Why Just Nikau?
Purely Local: Seeds collected by kererū—our taonga bird—within the Waitakere catchment ensure every seedling is regionally adapted to Tāmaki’s climate and soils.

Cultural Connection: Each nikau is imbued with story—our whānau participate in seed gathering, planting and karakia, weaving mātauranga into every plant.

Restoration Impact: Proceeds fund Mangapārae Papakāinga Trust’s wider ngahere‑restoration mahi—planting riparian corridors, stabilizing eroding slopes, and re‑establishing native understorey.

Social Value: Through training and employment opportunities, we empower local whānau to learn nursery‑management skills, boosting economic wellbeing alongside ecological health.

How It Works
Seed & Koha Collection

Kererū‑collected nikau fruits are gathered by whānau and volunteers, respecting rāhui and seasonal rhythms.

Whenua‑Based Nurseries

Skill‑Sharing Wānanga

Regular wānanga teach seed‑firing, weeding, planting techniques and karakia for healthy ngahere.

Wholesale & Community Sales

Bulk orders fulfilled for regional restoration projects, councils and private landscapers.
